With a diverse background spanning emergency rooms, intensive care units, cardiac rehabilitation facilities, home health, and occupational medicine, Derek has honed his expertise in delivering high-quality medical services to patients in diverse clinical environments.

In addition to his clinical experience, Derek has a proven track record in healthcare management, having successfully managed multiple million-dollar clinics across the country. His leadership has been instrumental in optimizing operations, driving revenue growth, and fostering a culture of excellence within his teams.

Matthew Higgs, MD  specializes in family sports medicine, pain management and performs fluoroscopic guided joint injections. ,

Dr. Higgs received his Bachelor of Science in biology from Sul Ross State University and received his medical school training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. Upon graduating from medical school, Dr. Higgs completed his family medicine residency at John Peter Smith Hospital. He then chose to pursue his passion for sports and musculoskeletal medicine and remained at John Peter Smith Hospital to complete a sports medicine fellowship.

He provides non-operative treatment for acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders. Dr. Higgs enjoys treating acute injuries and chronic disorders of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, back, neck, hip, knee, foot, and ankle. He offers diagnostic and therapeutic injections for the shoulder, elbow, carpal tunnel, hand, hip, knee, lumbar spine, and SI joints. Dr. Higgs is proficient with diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound as well as in-office ultrasound-guided joint injections.

Dr. Higgs and the physicians at All American Orthopedics & Sports Medicine are sports team physicians for local high schools: Clear Lake, Clear Springs, Clear Creek, Clear Falls, Dickinson, Sante Fe, Texas City, and Hitchcock. Dr. Higgs performs his outpatient procedures at Houston Physicians Hospital.
